That may seem like a normal, everyday, kind of thing…
But it is not.
- He was diagnosed with cancer last year.
- I was diagnosed with cancer 14 years ago.
Several of my uncles died of cancer. And also my maternal grandmother – of the same kind of cancer that I had. She died when she was 49.
We have come a long way in medicine. I had options that my grandmother did not.
I wonder if the options my brother had were available to my uncles.
I enjoyed lunch with my brother yesterday – on more levels than just sitting across the table from him. I adore him. I am grateful that we will have the option of many more lunches together.
I think it is important to be aware of our blessings – to lean into them and enjoy them and revel in them. So often, we take good news as our due.
It is not. It is the faithful hand of God watching over our lives.
I hope you enjoy lunch with your loved ones today 🙂
