• I began life as a shy child, deeply affected by my feelings, closely connected to my mother, and filled with insecurities.
• I experienced trauma as a child and because the experience was too difficult to process, my brain tried to protect me by "freezing".
• As I grew older, that “freeze” response became more familiar. I felt paralyzed when making big decisions – unable to make up my mind, playing out various scenarios, and sometimes, deciding not to make a decision at all.
• My body reacted with tightness upon hearing a particular tone of voice, seeing a particular look or noticing certain smells. As I tried to keep myself safe in a world that felt very unsafe, I reacted by hiding my feelings, covering up my experiences with chatter, and physically removing myself from situations whenever I could.
• My nervous system remained on high alert, hyper-vigilantly scanning my surroundings for anything that seemed unsafe and would plunge me back into that helpless, powerless feeling. This set the stage for my anxiety - constantly looking for danger and hoping that I would be able to keep myself safe.
While this page shares a little about my journey, it is really all about YOU!
It is my sincere desire that as you read my story, you will see pieces of your own, and realize that if I have found freedom from stress, anxiety, & overwhelm, that you can too.
For the past 25 years, I have helped women discover their value in God's eyes, transform anxiety into confidence & joy, and reignite relationships with purpose and passion.
It takes intentional work, but the reward is PRICELESS.
You CAN be free from anxiety, withstand stress gracefully, and find joy in the life you have designed with love.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel...
What I portrayed to the World:
• I worked hard, became a manager, worked a lot of overtime, and took care of the needs of clients and staff while neglecting my own health and desires.
• I traveled, obtained my Masters, bought a house, and made lasting friendships.
• I read my Bible, went to church, prayed, volunteered and hoped that God was happy with me.
• I rarely exercised, used food as a comfort, had huge responsibilities and often felt that I was not good enough.
• I sought help, made improvements, set boundaries, and became assertive from a place of desperation and loss.
• I smiled, was cheerful & helpful, and had a good sense of humour.
Contending with my Choices
And then my health began to fail, my brain reached a crisis point, and my world was literally turned upside down.
• I had 3 significant health scares - cancer, diabetes, & surgery - and I decided to take some time away from my very stressful job.
• I began to pray earnestly – seeking a relationship with God, altering my opinion of Him by reading His love letters to us, listening for His voice, and learning about the Holy Spirit’s role in my life.
• I began to actively seek joy, lean into God’s LOVE, BELIEVE that He loved me and wanted good for me, and TRUSTED Him with this mess of a life.
• And I discovered a way to live differently.
• I saw that I could feel my feelings, accept them, and move through them.
• I discovered how to build a caring community filled with supportive people who care and challenge me to grow and stretch.
• I discovered that my sensitive, compassionate, accepting nature was exactly what my clients connected with.
• I saw that the practical skills I was learning were the perfect companion for the heavenly insights God was sharing with me.
I discovered that I had been created with this amazing personality and given refining experiences so I could be authentic, confident and empowered as I leaned on God, walked with Him, and took His hand to overcome.
I was shown how to meld 20+ years of practical experience with His divine intervention and make significant changes to my lifestyle - to go from anxious, stressed, alone, and frightened to peaceful, joyful, supported, and courageous.
I am still learning. I am still co-creating this life with God.
I am still co-labouring with Him to support others.
You may not feel brave, but by making daily, TINY sustainable choices you can discover your courage and find your freedom!
It takes courage to stop freezing,
