Often the answer is, “To make a better life for my children,” or perhaps, “To make a better life for myself”.
And those are fantastic answers.
But what happens if we work so hard that we don’t spend time with our family? Or we neglect to spend time with ourselves?
Then what is all of this work for? Most of us want to enjoy life WITH someone else. Even those of us who are introverts like spending time with people some of the time 🙂
So let’s make time for ourselves and our families.
Family investment is always worth it.
Your family is your strength. They were the first group of people to teach you about the essentials of life. And they have a vested interest in your success – they love you and want you to do well. They support you and encourage you when life is difficult. Plus, when you have the loving support of your family, you will have the kind of support you need to push yourself to achieve your goals.
And, in turn, they want some of your time, attention, and support, also. The stronger the relationships in your family unit, the happier you will be. When you lovingly make time for your family while endeavoring to meet your goals, they are much more likely to lovingly support your hopes and dreams.
Children bring us joy…
Children only think about the here and now. And they want to spend quality time with you RIGHT NOW. They want to play games, go places, and tell you all about their day. And listening to them brings us joy. Hearing of their accomplishments and seeing their delight in our presence warms our hearts.
Not making time for your children can have serious implications on the kind of person they will become. Money cannot buy you happiness and all the successful accolades in the world will not make your children love you anymore. They already adore you.
Let’s make it a mutual admiration society and spend time together 🙂 You will not regret it and your heart will be warmed by their joy.
And that, my friends, is the last of the 5 essential elements of maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
