I always look forward to taking some time away from routine. I get bored easily and once a project is complete, I like to take a break.
However, I discovered that this particular week, I felt a little lost. It was hot outside, so I did not go for my daily walk.
I felt a little tired, so I read a lot and napped a lot, and puttered around the house.
And felt faintly dissatisfied – and then a bit anxious followed by an increase in anxiety.
And I realized that “in order “taking a break after a project” did not entail taking a break from the healthy routines that helped me overcome my anxiety.
So this week, I went back to my rhythm and routines.
I walked EARLY every morning to beat the heat.
I made sure I drank enough water.
I stretched and paid attention to my thoughts and visited with my loved ones.
And it was definitely a better week 🙂
I hope you stick with your healthy anti-anxiety routines. They are a part of your life to provide boundaries around your thoughts, feelings, and actions. They provide safety.
I hope we all take a moment to reflect on that and choose to make them a permanent part of our lives.
